Veneers Installation Process
To install veneers, our dentist will first prepare the tooth, a process that involves shaving down some surfaces of the enamel to allow the veneer to fit properly. The dentist obtains negative imprints of the tooth by getting impressions. The impression creates a 3-D model of the tooth and is used to construct the veneers. A temporary restoration is inserted to provide protection to the filed down teeth while the final veneers are being constructed in the lab.
Once the final veneers are ready, we will call you back in to get them inserted. Our dentist removes the temporary veneers and places the final pieces. They will inspect the veneers to see that they are fitted properly. Adjustments to the piece may be made if needed. The dentist will then clean and trim the veneers and polish them to get the required shape and size. When inserting the veneers, the dentist uses an acidic substance to roughen the enamel so that it becomes receptive to the veneers. Special dental cement is applied that allows the veneers to bond to the tooth properly. The dentist then permanently fits the veneer.
